Welcome to BRIJ

Delivery of a a new underground trian station at Boggo Road opens the precinct up to further development.

The Boggo Road Innovation Junction (BRIJ) has been created to connect a visionary community of scientists, enterprise partners, healthcare providers and tertiary institutions, united in one location in order to advance human and planetary health.

A Transit-Enabled future

The new second rail path through the core of the South East Queensland rail network will not only deliver five new train stations in convenient locations, the rail corridor also links Brisbane’s two major hospitals and multiple precinct intiatives including Herston Quarter at Exhibition, the Gabba Entertainment Precinct at Woolloongabba, and the Boggo Road Innovation Junction (BRIJ) at Boggo Road.

In total, construction of the new underground line is releasing nearly 7 hectares of prime inner-CBD land, including large scale development opportunities at Roma Street and Albert Street.

Precinct connectivity

The new underground rail and pedestrian links will soon reduce travel between the Boggo Road and Herston health precincts from 30 to 12 minutes, accelerating collaboration across this dense concentration of scientific expertise.

By 2036, the Boggo Road Precinct is expected to be Brisbane’s second busiest transport interchange, meaning we currently have an opportunity to significantly improve the active transport connections, providing more convenience, accessibility, and options for workers, students, and residents.

Development status

Boggo Road Innovation Junction (BRIJ), pronounced ‘bridge’, is dedicated to enhancing the health of people and the planet by harnessing enabling technologies that accelerate scientific breakthroughs.

The 39ha precinct is set to become one of Asia Pacific’s leading translational science hubs connected by the tri-modal Boggo Road interchange, anchoring the southern gateway to Brisbane’s knowledge corridor.

The masterplan for BRIJ will amplify the work of partners and encourage more collaboration, breakthroughs and retained commercialisation.
