Tower crane concrete base removal
From early May through to July 2026, the concrete base of the tower crane previously located adjacent to the new Boggo Road station on Joe Baker Street will be removed.
Work details
- Removal of the concrete base and foundations using excavators with hammer attachments and handheld jackhammers.
- Broken concrete will be loaded onto trucks and moved from site for disposal.
- Truck movements throughout the day and at night to remove materials from the worksite.

Work hours
Work will be undertaken during the day and at night, seven days a week.
Concrete demolition activities using excavators, jackhammers and concrete saws will be prioritised
between 6:30am and 6:30pm, however some activities may occur throughout the night until 6:30am.
This activity is subject to relevant approvals and suitable weather conditions.
Reducing impact during removal works
During concrete base removal, every effort will be made to minimise impacts on businesses, residents and commuters. Measures include:
- Majority of concrete demolition work to occur between 6:30am and 6:30pm.
- Use of water trucks and on-site suppression devices including hoses and/or misting.
- Dedicated road sweepers to perform routine and additional cleaning when required.
What to expect
- Increased noise, vibration and dust from heavy machinery including excavators, jackhammers, concrete saws, grinders and hand tools.
- An increase in construction workers and vehicle movements in and out of the area.
