Northern Tunnel Portal Construction

Cross River Rail is a new 10.2-kilometre rail line. It includes 5.9 kilometres of twin tunnels from a southern portal near Dutton Park station under the Brisbane River and the Brisbane CBD.

The northern portal is where trains will enter and exit Cross River Rail’s twin tunnels and is located in the rail corridor at Normanby.

Northern Tunnel Portal construction update - July 2021

Piling, excavation and concrete work is continuing for construction of the Northern Tunnel Portal structure within the Normanby rail corridor.

Victoria Park shared user path temporary diversion

From 6:30am Wednesday 7 July to 11:59pm Saturday 10 July, the Victoria Park shared user path behind Brisbane Girls Grammar School will temporarily close to enable construction of a sewer pit.

An underground sewer main located under the rail corridor at Normanby and within Victoria Park will be relocated approximately 300 metres east. Construction access will be via existing footpaths and access roads in Victoria Park.

From December 2020 for approximately four months, an underground sewer main located under the rail corridor at Normanby and within Victoria Park will be relocated approximately 300 metres east to enable construction of the Cross River Rail Northern Portal.
