Moorooka Station

Moorooka station is being rebuilt as part of a rolling program of station accessibility upgrades between Dutton Park and Salisbury stations.

Moorooka’s accessibility upgrade is part of a wider transformation to expand, improve and modernise South East Queensland’s rail network.

Current Status

Moorooka station will close for major construction on Monday 2 March 2026.

Major works at Moorooka station are expected to be finished in late 2027, with the station to reopen to customers once all works and testing and commissioning activities are complete.

The schedule for Moorooka station’s reopening will be confirmed in consultation with Queensland Rail and Translink.

Moorooka station upgrade

Moorooka station is being rebuilt to make it fully accessible and deliver a better transport experience for all customers.

Station features

Features of the Moorooka station upgrade will include:

  • A new accessible station entry including shade canopy, seating, drinking foundation and landscaping
  • Accessible parking and kiss ‘n’ ride facilities on Ipswich Road
  • A new station overpass with a lift and staircase to each platform
  • New platform canopies to provide improved weather protection
  • New station buildings including ticket office, staff facilities and accessible public toilets
  • Secure enclosure for 40 bicycles and outdoor racks
  • An additional third platform.

Alternative transport

There are plenty of alternative travel options to support you during the closure.

Travelling by bus:

  • StationLink Route 19 is a high frequency bus service which will service Moorooka and operate between Rocklea station and the PA Hospital busway station
    • stop 39 on Ipswich Road at Moorooka station (stop ID: 004794) to travel towards to the PA Hospital busway station
    • stop 38/39 on Ipswich Road at Moorooka station (stop ID: 010396) to travel towards Rocklea station
    • stop 38 on Ipswich Road near Gainsborough Street (stop ID: 004789) to travel towards Rocklea station.
  • StationLink route 19 services operate Monday to Friday, running every 15 minutes during peak times from the first service to until nearly 8pm, and every 30 minutes from 8pm to the last service. On weekends, StationLink runs every 30 minutes from the first to last service
  • Buses have StationLink signage to make them easily identifiable and are low floor (accessible) with ticketing equipment available
  • You’ll be able to track StationLink in real-time on the Translink app and plan your new journey with Translink’s journey planner.

Travelling by train:

  • If you prefer to continue travelling by train, Yeerongpilly and Rocklea stations are open. Both stations are fully accessible
  • There may be other local services that are better for you, so remember to plan ahead before you travel on Monday 2 March.
