New Gold Coast Stations Construction

The Cross River Rail Delivery Authority is constructing three new rail stations on the Gold Coast line to help connect South East Queensland’s growing population.

Pimpama station opened on Monday 20 October 2025, Hope Island station opened on Monday 18 May 2026 and major construction is continuing at the new Merrimac station.

Merrimac station construction update - July and August 2026

Fulton Hogan are commencing major construction activities for Merrimac Station. Throughout July and August 2026, major construction activities within the eastern and western rail reserves and Gooding Drive. Further construction work will also continue within the rail corridor.

From early July 2026, oversized deliveries of the new Merrimac Station pedestrian footbridge will occur via Gooding Drive, followed by on-site assembly and installation within the eastern rail reserve and rail corridors.

Delivery of the new Gold Coast stations is officially underway with contractors now appointed for major works at all three stations.
