Boggo Road precinct - temporary closure of Boggo Road and Joe Baker Street (stage 1)
From 6:00am Monday 29 June for up to 12 weeks, a section of Boggo Road and Joe Baker Street will be temporarily closed to through traffic to facilitate utility and road reconstruction works as part of the new Boggo Road station precinct.
Work details
Work to construct the new Boggo Road station urban realm involves the installation of utilities to support the operation of the new station, drainage upgrades, road resurfacing, footpath remediation and landscaping.
To complete these works safely, sections of Boggo Road and Joe Baker Street will need to be temporarily closed.
There are four stages to complete this work safely, with sections of Boggo Road and Joe Baker Street expected to be impacted until early 2027.
Work will involve:
- Installing temporary fencing and road barriers to safely establish the work area.
- Implementing traffic control for the sections of Boggo Road and Joe Baker Street closed to through traffic.
- Utility investigation and installation.
- Demolishing asphalt, concrete and kerbs.
- Installing new drainage, kerbs, concrete slabs and paving.
- Line marking and reinstatement of the road surface.
- The use of machinery including excavators, vacuum trucks, road milling machines, compactors, earthmoving and roller equipment, road sealing, asphalt paving and line marking machines.
Traffic and pedestrian impacts
- Temporary closure of a section of Boggo Road and Joe Baker Street with vehicle detours in place (please see map below). A U-turn facility will be available on Boggo Road adjacent to Outlook Park for vehicles travelling east
- Temporary closure of a section of footpath on Boggo Road with pedestrian detours in place (see map below).
- Access to local properties, Boggo Road station and busway will be maintained under traffic control.
- Traffic control and signage will be in place to assist motorists, pedestrians and cyclists.

What to expect
- Increased noise, lighting, vibration and dust associated with the use of heavy machinery, road works and equipment.
- Traffic delays. Please plan your journey and allow additional time if travelling through the area
- Odours may be noticeable during asphalting activities.
- Potential impacts to existing services (e.g. power, water, gas). Notification will be provided prior to any planned impact.
- An increase in construction workers and vehicles,
- Construction activities and associated road closures will occur during both day and night shifts (24/7). Works are subject to relevant approvals and suitable weather conditions.
Every effort will be made to minimise the impact of this work on businesses, residents and commuters

Works will occur during day and night shifts. All work will be carried out in line with Project Conditions and mitigated where possible
