Changes to the intersection of Roma and Herschel streets
The new layout at the intersection of Roma and Herschel streets is now operational.
The changes include:
- Closure of the northern footpath on Roma Street between Herschel Street and Parkland Boulevard to reduce interaction between pedestrians and construction vehicles
- New signalised pedestrian crossings to provide another alternative crossing point during construction activities
- A new ‘bike rider box’ to replace the inbound cycle lane on Herschel Street between George and Roma streets. This box provides a refuge point for cyclists to wait for the lights to change.
The map below shows the layout of the completed intersection.
These changes have been made to maintain safe access for the community during the construction of the new underground station at Roma Street.
Minor finishing work, such as installing permanent fencing and signage, will continuing at the intersection over the coming weeks to complete the changes.
