Transforming Travel - Roma Street

Roma Street will become Brisbane’s ‘Grand Central’ with the addition of the Cross River Rail underground station connecting passengers to the existing suburban bus and rail networks, the Brisbane Metro, as well as regional and interstate bus and train services.

The station precinct will become Brisbane’s key arrival destination for the State’s premier cultural, tourism and entertainment offerings, and expand the western gateway to the CBD.

In addition to improved transport connectivity, the Roma Street station presents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to partner with the private sector to build a world-class arena in the heart of Brisbane. This new arena will be the host site for flagship Olympic swimming and water polo events and will be the catalyst for accelerating renewal and development in and around the Roma Street precinct.

Roma Street is set to become our State’s busiest transport interchange with over 46,000 commuters expected to use the station every weekday by 2036.

The station will be set 27 metres below ground level, with 220-metre-long platforms, and will just be 3 minutes train travel time to the RNA precinct and connect passengers to the heart of the CBD at Albert Street in less than 3 minutes.
