Fairfield station works and temporary traffic changes

During February and March 2020, the UNITY Alliance will continue work within the rail corridor between Fairfield and Yeronga stations as part of construction of the Cross River Rail project.

Works will involve temporary single lane road closures on Equity Street and Mildmay Street, adjacent to the rail corridor to prepare safe access and working areas for upcoming electrical mast foundation construction within the rail corridor. Access to properties will be maintained for residents during this work.

What to expect

During construction, you may notice some minor disruptions such as:

  • Increased levels of localised noise and dust from the use of machinery such as drill rigs, vacuum excavation trucks, excavators, concrete trucks, mobile cranes and light vehicles
  • Increased construction vehicle movements on local roads and within the project corridor
  • Delivery of plant, materials and equipment to the project corridor.

Workers may arrive onsite one hour prior to the planned start time to prepare for the day’s activities. Every effort will be made to keep disruption to a minimum for nearby residents and businesses, this includes:

  • Maintaining access to residents’ properties
  • Keeping higher noise-generating activities to the earlier stages of shifts wherever possible
  • Ensuring plant / equipment used has been maintained (including noise control devices)
  • Minimising light spill by directing light-generating plant and equipment away from residences
  • Conducting toolbox talks with work crews to remind them of out of hours work protocols (no unnecessary noise).

We appreciate your patience during the construction period and will continue to update you as work progresses.
