The first CBD train station built in more than 120 years, Albert Street Station will dramatically improve connectivity to the southern part of the CBD.

The project will also deliver a new above ground station at Exhibition, a rebuild for seven suburban stations between Dutton Park and Salisbury, construction of three new stations on the Gold Coast line at Pimpama, Merrimac and Hope Island and new train stabling facilities at Clapham Yard and Mayne Yard, and installation of a new world class signalling system.

The project provides a second river crossing at the core of the rail network with capacity to run as many as 24 trains in each direction. Not only does this enable increased frequency of trains across the whole of South East Queensland, a second rail path through the CBD will reduce congestion, increase network reliability and improve rail as a customer experience.
New and upgraded stations will provide better access to more places of work, study and recreation for all of us.

Cross River Rail will be delivered in partnership with the private sector through three major infrastructure packages of work: the Tunnel, Stations and Development (TSD) public-private partnership; the Rail, Integration and Systems (RIS) alliance; and the European Train Control System (ETCS) contract.
Cross River Rail is already well into in delivery. Construction of Cross River Rail is due to be completed in 2025, ahead of extensive safety testing and commissioning, with services expected to commence in 2026.
