Roma Street Construction

The new Cross River Rail underground station will see Roma Street become Brisbane’s most connected transport precinct.

A new underground station at Roma Street will link passengers with the existing suburban bus and rail networks, the Brisbane City Council Metro services, as well as regional and interstate bus and train services.

At the Roma Street station, tiling, cladding and crash barrier installation is complete, while inside the station, escalators and train information display boards are installed and being tested. Works across the Roma Street precinct are progressing with road resurfacing, footpath reconstruction and concrete removal ongoing across the site.

Roma Street station – New busway platform 1 opens

From Monday 10 August 2026, the new Roma Street busway platform 1 will open. Access to the new platform will be via new stairs and lifts located inside the Roma Street station entrance. Access to busway platform 2, train platforms 3–10 and the Brisbane Coach Terminal will remain unchanged.

Roma Street northern footpath and existing eastbound lane closure from Monday 22 June 2026 to late October 2026.

Roma Street – temporary eastbound lane and footpath closure update

The current closure of the northern Roma Street footpath between Parkland Boulevard and George Street will be extended through to late October 2026.

Lane closure from 6:30pm and 6:30am on the corner of Roma Street and Parkland Boulevard associated with the Acoustic shed removal.

Acoustic shed and concrete slab removal

From mid-March 2026, for approximately eight weeks, works will be undertaken to remove the acoustic shed and concrete slab, located at the corner of Roma Street and Parkland Boulevard.

From Monday 7 July 2025, access to Roma Street station will move 20 metres east (towards the city).
