Exhibition Station

A newly upgraded Exhibition station is now open temporarily for major events at the Brisbane Showgrounds from June 2025 onwards, including the Ekka in August.

The station will open for year-round services in line with the start of trains through the new Cross River Rail tunnels, which is expected in 2029.

Temporary station openings to support travel to major events at the Brisbane Showgrounds will be communicated well in advance on the Translink website.

Zoom in along the existing railway line to Exhibition station, which currently operates during Ekka and some major events at the RNA Showgrounds. The station and railway will be connected to the Cross River Rail tunnels at Normanby, travelling south towards Roma Street Station and remain above ground travelling north to Albion Station.

Exhibition station will receive a significant upgrade through the Cross River Rail project, to enable it to operate all year round. The station platform will be converted for two-way travel, with one central, elevated platform accessed from underneath.

The platform length will be extended, running from the Royal International Convention Centre to behind the Main Arena stands.

From the platform level, take a short flight of stairs, or the lift to a lower-ground concourse with access to the Showgrounds precinct on both sides. This is where the Translink ticket gates will be located.

The concourse opens onto the existing RNA Showground precinct, with steps and an accessible ramp leading in the direction of Gregory Terrace. This route will take passengers to the King Street dining precinct, the Old Museum and other major events in the Showgrounds main arena.

Pause on the plaza and fly up to view the station looking towards the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital precinct. The aerial view shows an awning running the length of the platform, providing shade and shelter to passengers using the station.

The view rotates back around to the main arena, as the sun sets and fireworks light up the sky above the Showgrounds.

Exhibition Station Location

The newly upgraded station will provide pedestrian links between Exhibition station to Bowen Bridge Road, as well as service residents in the new developments underway in the Brisbane Showgrounds precinct and Fortitude Valley.
