Milestone reached with first track laid at Normanby

Work is rapidly progressing in Cross River Rail’s northern corridor, and a significant milestone has been achieved with the first permanent section of track for future Cross River Rail services laid at Normanby.

This is the first section of track to be laid at Normanby by the Rail, Integration and Systems (RIS) team, who have so far laid 1,500 tonnes of ballast, and 665 concrete sleepers.

The Normanby section of track is essential to integrating Cross River Rail services into the existing rail network and upgrading Exhibition station.
