The Cross River Rail Delivery Authority is committed to acknowledging and honouring the cultural heritage of our project alignment.

Cross River Rail in collaboration with Bilbie Labs, is helping bring to life Virtual Songlines, a virtual world where we can pay respect to the stories, traditions and customs of Brisbane’s Traditional Owners.

This digital world allows us to visit our station locations as they were in 1819, exploring the geology, environment, stories and traditions.

Exhibition - Night - Corroboree

The land of Barrambin (Exhibition Showground) means windy place. A place of corroboree and tournament, culture and pride. A gathering place for reeds, firewood, fishing and hunting in open woodland. This place was also a meeting place for information sharing, dance, and kinship arrangements.

This lore place saw disputes settled and wrongs corrected – a dance circle was nearby where young people (kippas) were inducted into adulthood. On occasion, marriages are arranged too.
