Edward Street After Hours Traffic Changes

As part of the introduction of a new railway signalling system, signalling equipment will be installed near Central Station as part of the Cross River Rail Project.

Details of work

Technology racks and equipment will be delivered and installed into a building near Central Station in early December. Work will involve equipment arriving to site on trucks and being lifted into place using a tailgate lift.

To minimise impact on local residents, pedestrians and traffic, this work will be completed out-of-hours between 7.00pm on Saturday 3 December until 6.00am on Sunday 4 December 2022.

What to expect

  • Temporary bus lane closure on Edward Street between Ann and Turbot Streets.
  • Bus stop 141 on Edward Street will be temporarily relocated down Edward Street (between Adelaide and Ann Streets).
  • Pedestrians will be detoured around the work area.
  • Noise from a delivery truck with a tailgate lift and assisting personnel.

Traffic control will be in place to assist motorists, bus drivers and pedestrians. Access to car parks within the work area will be maintained.

Every effort will be made to minimise the impact of this work on businesses, residents and CBD visitors.
