Woolloongabba Site Construction

The area between Vulture Street and Stanley Street in Woolloongabba, directly adjacent to the Woolloongabba Busway, was the staging area for the Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) and Roadheaders. The TBMs tunneled north from Woolloongabba, breaking through into the station caverns at Albert Street and Roma Street, finally emerging at the northern portal.

Woolloongabba station construction update - April and May 2025

Work inside the Woolloongabba station building is progressing with the installation of fire safety systems and smoke screens. These critical features will assist in preventing the spread of smoke and heat in the unlikely event of an emergency. The station’s canopy roof structure is complete with the recent installation of gutters, skylights, roof sheeting and columns. This signifies an important step in the station’s construction.

Woolloongabba station precinct - Main Street traffic and pedestrian changes

From early December 2024 to mid-2025, intermittent traffic and pedestrian changes will be in place on Main Street between Vulture and Stanley streets to support the installation of essential belowground utilities.

Gibbon Street short-term lane closure.

RESCHEDULED: Utility investigation - Gibbon Street, Woolloongabba

Due to recent wet weather, utility investigation work on Gibbon Street has been rescheduled again and will now take place from 8am to 10am on Thursday 3 April. A short-term lane closure on Gibbon Street at the intersection with the Stanley Street service road will be in place during these works.
