Track closures and changes to transport: Saturday 24 December to Monday 2 January

Cross River Rail will be undertaking major track, signalling and station upgrade works over the Christmas and New Year period. These works will require 10 days of continuous intensive effort across multiple work areas resulting in closures on the Beenleigh, Gold Coast and Cleveland lines and changes to other lines on the network.

During this time trains will operate to special timetables. If you are planning to travel to and through Brisbane during this period, please plan ahead by using Translink’s journey planner to find out your best travel options.

The below outlines network changes over this period.

  • Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 December (Christmas Eve and Christmas Day)

    • Trains will run express between Moorooka and Roma Street via Tennyson loop.

    • Buses will replace trains all stops between Moorooka and Roma Street.
    • Trains will run 4 minutes later than usual from Beenleigh to Roma Street (towards the city).
    • Trains will run 2 minutes later than usual from Moorooka to Beenleigh (towards Beenleigh).

    • Trains will run express between Altandi and Roma Street via Tennyson loop.

    • Trains will run 5 minutes later than usual from Altandi to Varsity Lakes (towards Varsity Lakes).
    • Trains will run 8 minutes later from Roma Street to Domestic Airport (towards Domestic Airport).

    • Cleveland line trains will terminate at Cannon Hill (towards the city).

    Shorncliffe line trains will terminate at Park Road (towards Cleveland).

    • Buses will replace trains all stops between Cannon Hill and Roma Street.

    • Train shuttles will run between Northgate and Park Road stations, providing 15 minute services to stations between Roma Street and Park Road.

    • Trains will depart from different platforms between Milton and Darra.

  • Monday 26 and Tuesday 27 December (Christmas and Boxing Day holidays)

    Ferny Grove line trains will terminate at Roma Street (towards Beenleigh).

    • Buses will replace trains all stops between Banoon and Roma Street.
    • Express buses will run all day between Beenleigh and Roma Street.

    • Gold Coast line trains will terminate at Beenleigh (towards the city).

    Airport line trains will terminate at Roma Street (towards Varsity Lakes).

    • Express buses will run all day between Beenleigh and Roma Street.

    • Cleveland line trains will terminate at Cannon Hill (towards the city).

    • Buses will replace trains all stops between Cannon Hill and Roma Street.

    • Train shuttles will run between Northgate and Park Road stations, providing 15 minute services to stations between Roma Street and Park Road.

  • Wednesday 28, Thursday 29 and Friday 30 December

    • Trains will depart Roma Street station 5 minutes later than usual (towards Beenleigh).
    • Trains will run 7 minutes later than usual from Moorooka to Beenleigh (towards Beenleigh).

    • Trains will run express between Altandi and Roma Street via Tennyson loop.

    • Trains will run 5 minutes earlier than usual from Varsity Lakes to Altandi (towards the city).
    • Trains will run 5 minutes later than usual from Altandi to Varsity Lakes (towards Varsity Lakes).

    • Cleveland line trains will terminate at Cannon Hill (towards the city).

    Shorncliffe line trains will terminate at Park Road (towards Cleveland).

    • Buses will replace trains all stops between Cannon Hill and Park Road.
    • Express buses will run all day between Cannon Hill and Park Road.
    • Express buses will run between Cannon Hill and Roma Street during morning and afternoon peaks.

    • Train shuttles will operate between Northgate and Park Road stations, providing 15 minute services to stations between Roma Street and Park Road.

  • Saturday 31 December, Sunday 1 and Monday 2 January (New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day and New Year’s Day holiday)
