Roma Street station construction update - April and May 2026
Works behind the hoardings at Roma Street station continue to progress. Over the coming months, crews will focus on station fit-out and mechanical and electrical works.
Outside the station building, in the Roma Street precinct, upgrades to landscaping and streetscape on the northern side of Roma Street are also progressing, with final footpath, road and utility works continuing.
Roma Street road resurfacing
From mid-2026, road resurfacing works will take place on both the eastbound and westbound lanes of Roma Street. Work will be carried out in stages to minimise impacts to road, pedestrian, local access and public transport.
Further notification will be issued ahead of these works starting to ensure local residents and road users are kept up to date.
Additional work to modify footpaths, traffic lights, service infrastructure, cycle infrastructure, and landscaping in the Roma Street precinct will continue until mid-2026. Some of these activities may also need to occur out-ofhours.
