Roma Street station construction update - February and March 2026

At Roma Street station, work is underway to integrate the new station with the existing busway and above-ground rail station. During this work, there may be temporary changes to pedestrian movements throughout the precinct. Pedestrian access will be maintained with detours and traffic control in place.

Herschel Street – Pedestrian and Cycle Changes

From Wednesday 11 February 2026 for up to eight weeks, the temporary shared user path between George and Roma streets will temporarily close for construction.

  • Cyclists will be diverted around the closure via the bicycle lane on George Street.
  • Follow direction of signage and traffic control during this time.

When this work is complete, the new shared user path on Herschel Street between George and Roma streets will open.

Work to modify footpaths, traffic lights, service infrastructure, cycle infrastructure, and landscaping in the Herschel Street work area will continue until mid-2026.
