New Gold Coast Stations - Contractors appointed
Cross River Rail will transform the way we travel across the whole of South East Queensland and the Cross River Rail Delivery Authority is delivering three new rail stations at Pimpama, Hope Island and Merrimac on the Gold Coast Line, to help connect South East Queensland’s growing population.
Contractors appointed for all three stations
Delivery of the new Gold Coast stations is officially underway with contractors now appointed for major works at all three stations.
Acciona Georgiou Joint Venture (AGJV) has been awarded the contract to design and build Hope Island station. AGJV is also the major contractor delivering the Department of Transport and Main Roads’ Coomera Connector Stage 1 North project, located immediately adjacent to the Hope Island station.
Meanwhile, Fulton Hogan has been awarded the contract to design and build Merrimac station while ADCO Constructions was engaged to deliver the Pimpama station earlier this year.
The Delivery Authority will continue to work closely with the community, Coomera Connector Project Team, Department of Transport and Main Roads and City of Gold Coast Council throughout delivery, to minimise impacts to residents and stakeholders.

Across our sites
Pimpama
Major construction is now underway and works include excavation and earthworks for the new station car park, as well as piling and form reinforcement placement (FRP) within the rail corridor, in preparation for construction of the station’s platforms.
Early works are also progressing on a station access road, a new signalised intersection, associated drainage and connecting pedestrian and cycle pathways.
Works along the Old Pacific Highway between Mebbin Street and Pimpama Jacobs Well Road are under traffic control, including reduced speed limits to ensure construction activities can be carried out safely. Early works are planned to be complete in late 2023 (weather and construction permitting).
Hope Island and Merrimac
Site investigations including geotechnical works, survey and utility identification activities are underway at both station sites in preparation for construction, and these investigations will be used to further inform and refine the design of each station.
At Hope Island, enabling works within the rail corridor have also commenced and are planned to continue throughout 2023 under planned track closures. These works include installing track monitoring equipment and undertaken surveys of the bridge structure.
Further surveying and investigations are being undertaken and these will also be used to further refine each of the station designs.
As the contractors now appointed for major construction, AGJV and Fulton Hogan are also in the process of developing the design, construction methodology and programs of works for the Hope Island and Merrimac stations respectively.
The community will be kept up to date as details for construction activities are finalised and will be notified in advance of works commencing on site.
