Work is underway

Work is Underway on Brisbane’s new underground!

The whole of South East Queensland can start looking forward to more trains more often, but right now it means changes to roads, footpaths and public transport services while we begin construction at multiple worksites around the city.

Cross River Rail will deliver four new underground stations at Boggo Road, Woolloongabba, Albert Street and Roma Street, as well as upgrades to eight above ground stations including Salisbury, Rocklea, Moorooka, Yeerongpilly, Yeronga, Fairfield, Dutton Park and Exhibition.

The project will also deliver three new stations on the Gold Coast line at Pimpama, Helensvale North and Merrimac.

Cross River Rail is now a project in delivery with works underway at multiple sites, and the Cross River Rail website is the best place to find out more about these works.

The Construction section on our website includes a page for Travel and Transport Disruptions, which includes important information on how any works could impact your travel plans. This information includes footpath closures and even street closures like the section of Albert Street between Mary and Charlotte Streets which is now permanently closed to vehicles.

The website also includes information on construction works at each of the Cross River Rail work sites, such as the demolition works on Albert Street, geotechnical works on the rail corridor between the Fairfield and Yeronga stations, and piling activities due to start at the site of our Woolloongabba station later this month.
