Underground Classical Performance for Cross River Rail
As part of its partnership with the 2020 Brisbane Festival, the Cross River Rail Delivery Authority has enabled a very special performance by The Camerata Queensland Chamber Orchestra that has to be seen to be believed.
The Art goes Underground performance by Queensland’s Chamber Orchestra Camerata was filmed deep in the tunnel cavern at Cross River Rail’s Woolloongabba worksite and performers took advantage of the unique acoustics to perform ‘Apis Australis’, by Brisbane composer John Rotar.
“Apis Australia is inspired by worker bees and was incredibly apt given how busy our worksites are” said Mr Newton.
“Over the opening weekend of the Festival, Cross River Rail hosted performances at Roma Street, where demolition of the Brisbane Transit Centre is 70 per cent complete.
The Camerata Queensland Chamber Orchestra are performing as part of the Festival’s Classical Brisbane program, on the Rainforest Green at South Bank on Saturday 12 September and will also feature in the Lord Mayor’s City Hall Concerts each Tuesday afternoon of the Festival.
Information about the program of events on offer at this year’s Brisbane Festival can be found on their website.
