Travel and transport update

Work is progressing across Cross River Rail’s worksites. We are transforming South East Queensland by unlocking the bottleneck at the core of our public transport network. However, right now it means changes to roads, footpaths and public transport services while construction and other works occur.

A summary of the latest changes you may see around our worksites is listed below, and we would like to thank the public for its continued patience during construction of Brisbane’s new underground. We want to keep the public as informed as possible as work progresses:

  • There are now three active worksites for the Albert Street station. Follow the signs and guidance of traffic control to safely navigate your way through the area.
  • Demolition of the Brisbane Transit Centre will require intermittent temporary road and footpath closures and diversions. These changes will occur in off peak periods to reduce impacts on motorists and pedestrians. Access into the station will also change in the coming months. Keep an eye out for new signage at the station, which will provide more information.
  • Works along the Exhibition Line will require a temporary weekend closure of O’Connell Terrace between Lanham and Tufton Streets for private vehicles. Access for emergency vehicles, pedestrian and cyclists will be maintained. A clearly signed detour will be in place throughout the temporary closure.

You can keep up to date with all current and future changes at our Disruptions page; or subscribe to receive updates via email here.
