Northern and southern suburbs update
Project Updates
22 Oct 2020
Northern suburbs
A significantly upgraded Exhibition station will operate daily – not just for events – providing rail services to the growing RNA Showgrounds redevelopment precinct and the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, every day.
As part of early works to deliver a new Exhibition station, works will take place under the O’Connell Terrace bridge in Bowen Hills.
Because of this, O’Connell Terrace will be temporary closed to vehicles from 8pm Friday 23 October until 5am Monday 26 October.
Traffic control and detour signage will be in place. Access for emergency vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians will be maintained.
Meanwhile, works are continuing to deliver a new world-class railway signalling system along the Shorncliffe Line.
Southern suburbs
Works continue between Fairfield and Sailsbury to deliver major accessibility upgrades to six stations on the rail network south of Brisbane.
Accessibility will be boosted at these stations with new overpasses, lifts, kiss ‘n’ ride infrastructure and bike facilities included in Cross River Rail’s proposed package of works.
Notification will be provided prior to any changes to rail services for work to take place.
