Hope Island station’s final design revealed

The final design for the Hope Island station has been released. One of three new stations being built on the Gold Coast as part of Cross River Rail Delivery Authority’s wider scope of works, Hope Island will be a modern and accessible addition to the South East Queensland rail network. It will include enhanced boarding points, through lifts for ease of access, and additional accessible carparks located close to the station entrance.
After an extensive community consultation process, the design was finalised with best practice accessibility features front and centre. Key features of the new station will include:
- Enhanced boarding points
- Through lifts for ease of access
- Approximately 210 parking spaces, with accessible carparks close to the station entrance
- 160-metre-long station platform with canopy cover
- Undercover lock-up enclosure for up to 40 bicycles with additional undercover bicycle racks
- Accessible public toilet facilities
- Assistance animal relief area
- New local bus stops within the station precinct for improved public transport connectivity
- New signalised intersection at station entrance on Hope Island Road
- Additional pedestrian entrance via Hope Island Road
Construction of the station is well underway and recent progress includes:
- Lift shafts installed
- Station platforms constructed
- Fitout, including roof canopy installation, underway
- Foundations for the station plaza building progressing well
- Construction of carpark, utilities, electrical, and communications network underway
