Free kids activities in the CBD this school holidays

The Cross River Rail Experience Centre will host a free school holiday program in the Brisbane CBD throughout the summer holidays.

The new program, kicking off from Saturday 14 December, will inspire, entertain and inform young minds.

For the first time, the program includes a dedicated storytelling and art session for children who are deaf or have hearing loss and one for children who have low or no vision.

All the activities are free, however, some require a booking. Dates and times, as well as booking details, can be found on the Experience Centre website.

Activities include “Christmas with Ozobots”, which sees children learn how to use simple coding to get a miniature robot to light up a house with Christmas lights, and “Magical Kaleidoscopes” which involves participants investigating symmetry, finding examples in the Cross River Rail station buildings and creating their own kaleidoscope.

The Cross River Rail Experience Centre is a community engagement and education hub developed in partnership with Queensland Museum. It provides detailed project information, digital engagement experiences including Virtual Reality, and learning opportunities for visiting members of the public.
