Cross River Rail shares tunnel vision with news crews

Recently, we took media underground to provide a glimpse of the incredible progress being made on our project beneath the Brisbane River and CBD.

The buggy tour travelled more than 2.5 kilometres from our Woolloongabba site to the Roma Street cavern about 30 metres underground, and back again.

About 18,300 concrete segments, each weighing 4.2 tonnes, have been installed in this section of our twin tunnels.

It is the same stretch of tunnels that will transport people between 2032 Olympics and Paralympics venues.

Having completed this section, our massive Tunnel Boring Machines are now making their way to the project’s northern portal area at Normanby, where they will finish tunnelling by the end of the year.
