Buses to be diverted at Roma Street

At Roma Street, demolition of the Brisbane Transit Centre and Hotel Jen is already underway to make way for the new underground station.

From Monday 18 May, the busway through Roma Street station will be temporarily closed for approximately 15 weeks. This closure will enable the safe demolition of the Brisbane Transit Centre coach deck which is necessary for the construction of the new station and tunnels.

During this time bus services will be diverted from the busway onto Roma Street with temporary bus stops outside the Brisbane Transit Centre, to cater for services which normally stop at the Roma Street busway station.

To prioritise bus movements on Roma Street a bus lane will be installed westbound between Parkland Boulevard and Garrick Street. The existing bus lane eastbound from Countess Street to Makerston Street will also be maintained.

The normal bus timetable will continue to operate during the diversion and train services using the existing Roma Street train station will also operate as normal.

Buses will resume using the Roma Street busway station when it is reopened later this year.
