Woolloongabba station precinct - Main Street traffic and pedestrian changes - August 2025
As part of essential utility work required for the new Woolloongabba station, intermittent traffic and pedestrian changes will continue until late 2025 on Main Street between Vulture and Stanley streets.
Construction activities
- Installing traffic management including traffic barriers and detour directional signage
- Site investigation to confirm the location of current services
- Excavation and construction of new permanent service lines and new service pits
- Realigning existing service lines
- Footpath reinstatement.
Construction activities are subject to weather, unforeseeable conditions and approvals.
What to expect
- Night work involving excavation and construction of new underground service lines and pits
- Use of equipment such as excavators, generators, light vehicles, lighting units, vac trucks, ventilation fans, and hand tools
- You may experience increased noise, lighting, and increase in workforce outside the station site.
Traffic and pedestrian impacts
- From 6:30pm-6:30am Monday to Saturday, intermittent lane closures of the western footpath and the adjacent traffic lane of Main Street between Vulture and Stanley streets
- Pedestrians will be diverted from the Main Street western footpath via the eastern footpath
- Traffic control and detours will be in place to support motorists, pedestrians and cyclists, with vehicle access maintained in both directions
- Access to properties and businesses will be maintained at all times
- Footpath and lane closures will not occur during events at the Gabba
