Main Street – temporary footpath and lane closure
From Monday 19 January 2026 for up to two weeks, a temporary footpath and lane closure will be required on Main Street between Vulture and Stanley streets to install services and reinstate the footpath and road.
Work Details
- Installing traffic management including traffic barriers and detour directional signage
- Site investigation to confirm the location of current services
- Excavation and construction of new permanent service lines and new service pits
- Realigning existing service lines
- Kerb installation, footpath reinstatement and landscaping
Construction activities are subject to weather, unforeseeable conditions and approvals.
What to expect
- Day and Night work involving excavation and construction of new underground service lines and pits
- Use of equipment such as excavators, generators, light vehicles, lighting units, vac trucks, ventilation fans, and hand tools
- You may experience increased noise, lighting, and increase in workforce outside the station site.

Traffic and pedestrian impacts
- Temporary closure of the western footpath and adjacent traffic lane on Main Street between Vulture and Stanley streets
- Pedestrians will be detoured via the eastern footpath of Main Street
- Traffic control in place to assist motorists, pedestrians and cyclists
- Access to properties and businesses will be maintained at all times
- Footpath and lane closures will not occur during events at The Gabba.
