Main Street – temporary footpath and lane closure

From Tuesday 9 December 2025 for up to two weeks, a temporary footpath and lane closure will be required on Main Street between Vulture and Stanley streets to complete works on the road and footpath.

Work details

  • Installing traffic management including traffic barriers and detour directional signage
  • Kerb installation and footpath reinstatement
  • Utility works as required as part of reinstatement scope.

Construction activities are subject to weather, unforeseeable conditions and approvals.

What to expect

  • Changes to traffic arrangements and pedestrian detours. Please see map below for information
  • Day and night work involving excavation and construction of new underground service lines and pits.
  • Use of equipment such as excavators, generators, light vehicles, lighting units, vac trucks, ventilation fans, concrete trucks and hand tools
  • Increased noise, lighting, and workforce outside the station site.

Work hours

Construction activities and the associated traffic and pedestrian changes will occur during both day and night shift.

Work is subject to relevant approvals and suitable weather conditions.

Traffic and pedestrian impacts

  • Temporary closure of the western footpath and the adjacent traffic lane of Main Street between Vulture and Stanley streets
  • Pedestrians will be diverted from the Main Street western footpath via the eastern footpath
  • Traffic control will be in place to assist motorists, pedestrians and cyclists, with vehicle traffic maintained in both directions during traffic changes and any required detours
  • Access to properties and businesses will be maintained at all times
  • Footpath and lane closures will not occur during events at the Gabba.
