Leopard Street temporary traffic changes

From Monday 21 July 2025 for up to four weeks, lane and footpath closures will be in place along a section of Leopard Street near the Woolloongabba station site. These closures will occur nightly between 6:30pm and 6:30am.

These closures are required to safely construct the new stormwater connection for the future Woolloongabba station.

What to expect

  • Intermittent lane closures and traffic control in place Leopard Street
  • Closure of the pedestrian access path on Leopard Street, with detour in place
  • Increase in truck movements, noise, dust, vibration and worksite lighting
  • Increase in personnel carrying out the work.

Each day, between 6.30am-6.30pm, the road and footpath will be reinstated, and normal traffic conditions will be in place.

Work details

Work will involve:

  • Implementing traffic control arrangements
  • Excavation and construction of new stormwater line and connections to existing manholes, using excavators and vacuum excavators
  • Backfill and reinstatement of pavement and footpaths within the work area
  • Use of machinery including excavators, vacuum excavators, road saws, generators, compressors, haulage vehicles, lighting units and hand tools

Traffic and pedestrian impacts

  • Single lane closures on Leopard Street. One lane of Leopard Street will remain open to southbound traffic, under traffic control
  • Right-hand turn into Stanley Street will remain open
  • Leopard Street footpath will be closed with detours in place.

Work hours

Due to traffic permitting restrictions, the work will be undertaken between 6:30pm and 6:30am, subject to approvals and weather conditions.

In the event of unforeseen conditions or wet weather, work will be undertaken on the next available date.
