UPDATE: Gibbon Street traffic changes
Due to unforeseen conditions, the full road closure at the intersection of Gibbon Street and Stanley Street will be required until early December 2025.
Work details
Work to amend the manhole sewer connection between Gibbon Street and the Stanley Street service road which has previously been constructed will take place.
Activities include:
- Demolishing existing concrete benching
- Raising existing manhole, reinstating the temporary platforms, installing new pipe and reinstating concrete
- Road resurfacing with profilers and vibratory equipment
- Backfill, reinstatement and line marking on the road.
What to expect
- Temporary vehicle and pedestrian detours
- Use of machinery including vacuum excavation trucks, road saws, generators, compressors, excavators, haulage vehicles, lighting units and hand tools
- Increase in noise, dust, vibration and worksite lighting
- Increase in personnel carrying out works
- No service outages are expected for local residents during this work.

Traffic and pedestrian changes
- Vehicle access from Stanley Street onto Gibbon Street will be closed
- Access from Gibbon Street onto the Stanley Street service road will be closed
- A vehicles detour will be place via Ipswich Road and Hawthorne Street
- Access to properties, businesses and the cycle path will be maintained
- Traffic control will remain in place to assist motorists, pedestrians and cyclists.

Work hours
These works and associated traffic changes will take place continuously during the day and at night until approximately early December 2025.
All works are subject to relevant approvals and suitable weather conditions.
In the event of wet weather or unforeseen circumstances, works may be rescheduled. Advance notification will be provided for any changes.
