Extended track closures

From Saturday December 20 to Monday 26 January there will be track closures and travel changes across all lines for Cross River Rail works and essential maintenance.

These works are essential to upgrade South East Queensland’s rail network as it undergoes a once-in-a-generation transformation to support our growing population.

Your best travel option may change over the 38-day period.

Please consider your transport options, plan ahead and allow extra travel time.

  • Monday 12 to Friday 16 and Monday 19 to Friday 23 January

    • From Saturday 3 to Monday 26 January, Beenleigh and Gold Coast line trains will run as a combined all stops service between Varsity Lakes and Banoon stations. This train will run to an altered timetable, there will be no express train.
    • Airport line trains will run between Domestic and International Airports and Boggo Road station to connect with the Cleveland line until 7:30pm
    • After 7:30pm, Airport line trains will terminate at Boggo Road station.
    • Shorncliffe line trains run between Sandgate and Roma Street stations until 7:30pm. After 7:30pm, the Shorncliffe line links to the Cleveland line
    • Shorncliffe station is closed for an accessibility upgrade until mid-2026.
    • Doomben line trains will run between Doomben and Eagle Junction stations.

  • Bikes and e-scooters are not permitted on railbuses
  • Please allow extra travel time as railbuses are impacted by traffic and road conditions.
