Shorncliffe track closures 2026

We’re building a better rail network for South East Queensland, but that means temporary changes to some evening and weekend services on the Shorncliffe line throughout 2026.

There will be weekend track closures on the Shorncliffe line throughout June and July. Railbuses will replace trains between Northgate and Shorncliffe stations.

Why?

The Shorncliffe line is the pilot line for testing a new digital signalling system, the European Train Control System (ETCS). ETCS is progressively being installed to key parts of the South East Queensland rail network, including in the Cross River Rail tunnels and on the Gold Coast line between Beenleigh and Varsity Lakes stations.

During this period, you may see trains travelling on the Shorncliffe line and stopping at some stations. These trains are undergoing important testing and are not in service.

Ticket and fare information

Normal fares and conditions apply on all scheduled services.
