Major construction complete - Roma Street station Subway and Bus Platform Upgrades - October 2024
Major upgrades to Roma Street station subway are complete. Until late October 2024, minor finishing works and lighting upgrades on platform level will continue. Work is scheduled to occur between 6:30am and 6:30pm, Monday to Sunday, construction conditions permitting.
Cross River Rail would like to thank the community for their patience throughout major construction, and their continued patience while finishing works continue.
Details of work
Subway
The following activities have been completed in the subway:
- New tiled floors, walls and ceiling finishes on all stairs and existing platforms
- Upgraded wayfinding and signage
- Improved accessibility enhancements including tactile indicators and stair treatments
- Upgraded amenities
- Upgraded lighting throughout.
Busway platform 2
The following activities have been completed on platform 2:
- New tiled floor finishes including tactile indicators
- New platform canopy roof lining
- Column removal and upgraded finishes
- Upgraded lighting.
Rachael Sarra is a multi-disciplinary First Nations artist from Goreng Goreng country. Her piece depicts Meanjin (Brisbane). The Mairwar (Brisbane River), the beating heart of the city runs through the piece like a pulse, connecting the past through to the present. The more we connect, the more we can grow vibrantly, together. Located within Roma Street station subway, this vibrant piece will greet local community and visitors to Brisbane and will serve as a reminder of culture anchoring us to place and supporting us through our journeys together.
