Salisbury station accessibility rebuild update

Salisbury station is being rebuilt as part of a wider transformation to expand, improve and modernise south east Queensland’s rail network. As part of this transformation, the Cross River Rail Delivery Authority is responsible for a rolling program of station accessibility upgrades between Dutton Park and Salisbury.

Salisbury station will reopen on Monday 2 March.

When the station reopens it will be fully accessible, providing a better transport experience for all customers.

Until the station reopens on 2 March, Beenleigh line trains will continue to run express through Salisbury station, with alternative transport options available.

Alternative transport options

There are plenty of alternative travel options to support you during the full station closure:

  • By bus:
    • High frequency StationLink route 19 will be available from Lillian Avenue
    • There may be other local bus services including routes 110, 115 and 117 on Beaudesert Road that maybe better for you.
  • By train:
    • If you prefer to continue to travelling by train, Rocklea station is open to customers
    • If you need an accessible station, Rocklea and Coopers Plains stations are the closest stations with lift access.

Alternative transport options that are accessible from Salisbury station.

StationLink – Route 19

To support you during the closure, StationLink route 19 will operate between Salisbury station and the PA Hospital station.

Buses are wrapped to make them easily identifiable and are low floor (accessible) with ticketing equipment available. Make sure you have your go card or valid paper ticket when boarding the bus.

Salisbury station features:

  • New accessible entry points on Dollis Street and Lillian Avenue including shade canopies, seating, drinking fountains and footpaths
  • New station overpass providing connectivity between Lillian Avenue and Dollis Street with a lift and a staircase to each platform
  • New platform canopies to provide improved weather protection
  • New station buildings including ticket office, staff facilities and an accessible public toilet
  • A station carpark on the corner of Lillian and Olivia Avenues, with another on the corner of Beaudesert Road and Lillian Avenue
  • New kiss ‘n’ ride bays and accessible parking on Dollis Street
  • A 40-space secure bicycle enclosure and outdoor racks
  • an additional third platform.

Salisbury station construction

Construction works to rebuild the station included:

  • Demolition of existing platforms and construction of a new raised platforms including an additional (third) platform
  • Identification and relocation of utilities including trenching and installation of undertrack crossings
  • Removal of old electrical structures and installation of new overhead electrical lines and masts
  • Construction of a new station and pedestrian overpass including lifts and stairs
  • Construction of new station buildings including ticket office, staff facilities and a public accessible toilet
  • Construction of platform canopies for weather protection, and installation of seating, bins and wayfinding signage
  • Construction of Dollis Street accessible parking and kiss ‘n’ ride facilities
  • Construction of enclosed secure bicycle storage facilities and outdoor racks for casual bicycle parking
  • Some minor construction works will continue at Salisbury station. UNITY Alliance will notify residents and businesses before out of hours works and future track construction.
