Traffic and pedestrian access – Full intersection closure
- Mary Street may be closed intermittently to vehicles at the Albert Street intersection between 6:30pm and 6:30am.
- During full intersection closures, vehicles will not be able to turn from Albert Street on to Mary Street. Detours will be in place via Edward, Alice, George and Elizabeth streets.
- Vehicle access to properties on Mary Street will be maintained under the direction of traffic control.
Traffic and pedestrian access – Lane closures
- Lane closures on a section of Mary Street between 6:30pm and 6:30am as required. For further details, please refer to map overleaf.
- During lane closures, vehicle access will be maintained.
- Vehicle access to properties on Mary Street will be maintained under the direction of traffic control
- Pedestrian access will be maintained via the existing Mary and Albert streets signalised intersection.
- The northern footpath of Mary Street adjacent to the Lot 1 and Lot 2 work sites will remain closed.
- At completion of works, Mary Street will return to single lane access for westbound traffic only.
Work details
Work will involve:
- Installation of site fencing, hoarding and road safety barriers for lane closures within the work area as required.
- Utility and service work which may include the use of machinery including excavators, concrete saws, generators, light vehicles, lighting units, ventilation fans and hand tools.
- Demolishing asphalt, concrete and kerbs.
- Installing new drainage, kerbs, concrete slabs and paving.
- Line marking and reinstatement of the road surface.
Public transport changes
During the full intersection closures, Mary Street Stop 50 near Albert Street (Stop ID: 00099) will be temporarily closed.
Please refer to signage at the impacted stop for location of alternate stop.

What to expect during temporary road closures
- Traffic control and signage in place to assist.
- Temporary vehicle and pedestrian detours.
- Increased truck movements and traffic control on the Elizabeth Street and Albert Street intersection.
- An increase in noise, dust, vibration and worksite lighting.
- An increase in construction workers and vehicle movements in and out of the area.
- Potential impacts to existing services (e.g. power, water, gas). Affected properties will be notified in advance, if required.

Work will occur nightly from 6:30pm to 6:30am during the lane and road closures. All works will occur in line with required traffic permits and Project Conditions.
