Work details

Work will involve:

• Implementing traffic control arrangements.
• Removing a tower crane at the Lot 2 site near the intersection of Mary and Albert streets.
• Disassembling and lifting sections of the crane pieces out of site and on to trucks to be driven out of site.
• Use of other machinery including but not limited to cranes, hand tools and rattle guns.

Work hours

Work will be undertaken between 7:00pm Friday 17 April to 5:00am Monday 20 April 2026.

Work is subject to relevant approvals and suitable weather conditions. In the event of weather, work will be undertaken on the next available date.

Traffic and pedestrian impacts

• Mary Street closed to vehicles at the Albert Street intersection. There will be no access for eastbound or westbound traffic past the closure.
• Vehicle detours in place on Alice, George, Elizabeth and Edward streets.
• Albert Street pedestrian gantry closed between Charlotte and Mary streets. Pedestrian detours in place via Charlotte, Mary, Edward and George streets.
• The footpath of Mary Street adjacent to the Lot 1 and Lot 2 work site will remain closed.
• Vehicle and pedestrian access to properties will be maintained throughout the work, and traffic control will be in place to assist.

What to expect during temporary road closures

• Traffic control and signage in place to assist
• Temporary vehicle and pedestrian detours
• Increased truck movements and traffic control on the Albert Street and Mary Street intersection
• Increase in noise, dust, vibration and worksite lighting
• Increase in construction workers.

Public transport changes

During the closure, Mary Street Stop 50 near Albert Street (Stop ID: 000050) will be temporarily closed. Buses will stop at Alice Street Stop 99 at Albert Street (Stop ID: 00099).

Please refer to signage at the impacted stop for location of alternate stop.
