Mary Street temporary full road closure

Mary Street closure – 8pm Friday 28 March to 5pm Saturday 29 March 2025 for concrete pour

From 8pm Friday 28 March to 5pm Saturday 29 March 2025, a section of Mary Street will be closed to vehicle traffic in both directions near the Albert Street intersection.

This closure is required to conduct a large concrete pour for a floor slab of the future Albert Street main station building (Lot 1). During the pour, the concrete pump will be positioned on Albert Street.

Work details

Work will involve:

• Implementing traffic control arrangements
• Use of machinery including large concrete pumps, concrete trucks, concrete vibrators, gurneys, and waste trucks.

Work hours

Work will be undertaken between 8pm Friday 28 March to 5pm Saturday 29 March. Work is subject to relevant approvals and suitable weather conditions. In the event of wet weather, work will be undertaken on the next available day.

Traffic and pedestrian impacts

• Westbound traffic on Mary Street will be diverted via Albert Street and Alice Street
• Eastbound traffic on Mary Street will continue to be diverted via George Street and Elizabeth Street towards Edward Street
• Northbound traffic on Albert Street can turn right into Mary Street and continue eastbound
• Pedestrians on the southern footpath of Mary Street will be temporarily stopped when required and escorted through the work area under direction of traffic control
• Continued closure of the Mary Street northern footpath adjacent to the lot 1 work site
• No change to bus stops as they do not operate during this time
• Access to properties will be maintained throughout the work, and traffic control will be in place to assist

What to expect during temporary road closures

• Temporary vehicle and pedestrian detours
• Increased truck movements and traffic control on Mary Street and Albert Street intersection
• Increase in noise, dust, vibration and worksite lighting
• Increase in personnel carrying out works
