Green Spine update – Charlotte and Mary Streets
From late July until late 2025, a new work area will be established to construct the new public realm on Albert Street between Charlotte and Mary streets.
Construction activities will take place during both day and night shifts, seven days a week, and will be subject to wet weather and unforeseen circumstances.
Construction of the Green Spine between Charlotte and Mary streets will continue in stages until late 2026. Work will be delivered in stages to maintain connectivity and access to businesses and properties.
Information about future stages of contruction will be distributed prior to new work areas being established.
Construction activities:
- Installation of worksite barrier and hoarding
- Removing existing street furniture
- Locating underground services involving core drilling, pot holing and hydro excavation
- Demolishing asphalt, concrete, kerbs and excavation works
- Installing new pavement, including concrete slab, pavement works and paving
- Installing new drainage, kerb concrete slab and paving
- Installing lighting and traffic signals.
From late July 2025, new work area will be established between Elizabeth Street and Charlotte Street.
What to expect:
- Barriers and hoarding adjustments
- Changes to pedestrian access
- Work will occur during both day and night
- Increased noise, dust, vibration and worksite lighting
- Potential impacts to existing services (e.g. power, water, gas). Affected properties will be notified if required.
