Green Spine Pedestrian access update - August 2025
Work is progressing to construct the new public realm on Albert Street between Elizabeth and Charlotte streets.
From mid-August 2025, pedestrian changes will be required to extend the work area next to Elizabeth Street (refer to map below). This arrangement will remain in place until late September 2025.
Work has been staged to maintain access to businesses and properties. Work will be carried out during day and night, seven days a week, subject to wet weather and unforeseen circumstances.
To conduct footpath work, there will be no pedestrian access on the eastern side of Albert Street between Elizabeth Street and Albert Lane at night (6:30pm to 6:30am). Work will be undertaken during day shift and night shift in consultation with individual businesses.
Access to businesses will remain open during existing business operating hours.
What to expect:
- Barriers and hoarding adjustments
- Changes to pedestrian access during day and night
- Traffic control and signage in place to assist
- Work will occur during both day and night
- Increased noise, dust, vibration and worksite lighting
- Potential impacts to existing services (e.g. power, water, gas). Affected properties will be notified if required.
