Green Spine - Pedestrian Access Update - September 2025
Work is progressing to construct the new public realm on Albert Street between Elizabeth and Charlotte streets.
From the week commencing Monday 29 September until late October 2025, pedestrian changes will be required to establish a new work area on Albert Street between Charlotte and Elizabeth streets (refer to map below).
Work will be carried out during day and night, seven days a week, subject to weather and unforeseen circumstances.
Work has been staged to maintain access to businesses and properties. Access to businesses will remain open during existing business operating hours. Access to businesses will remain open during existing business operating hours.
Construction Activities
- Installing barriers and adjusting existing hoarding
- Removing existing street furniture
- Locating underground services, including core drilling, pot holing and hydro excavation
- Demolishing asphalt, concrete, kerbs and excavation
- Installing new drainage, kerb concrete, slab and paving
- Installing lighting and traffic signals
- Installing new street furniture.
What to Expect
- Changes to pedestrian access both during day and night
- Traffic control and signage in place to assist
- Work occurring during both day and night shifts
- Increased noise, dust, vibration and worksite lighting
- Potential impacts to existing services (e.g. power, water, gas). Affected properties will be notified if required.
