Green Spine - Pedestrian Access Update - Charlotte and Elizabeth streets
Work is progressing to construct the new public realm on Albert Street between Elizabeth and Charlotte Street.
Throughout December 2025, there will be changes to pedestrian routes on Albert Street between Charlotte and Elizabeth Street. This arrangement is expected to remain until early 2026.
Work and ongoing footpath closures will be carried out during day and night, seven days a week, subject to weather and unforeseen circumstances.
Work has been staged to maintain access to businesses and properties. Access to businesses will remain open during existing business operating hours.
Construction Activities
- Adjusting existing hoarding
- Removing and installing street furniture
- Locating underground services, including saw cutting, core drilling, pot holing and hydro excavation
- Demolishing asphalt, concrete, kerbs and excavation
- Installing new drainage, kerbs, concrete slab and paving
- Installing traffic signals.
What to Expect
- Changes to pedestrian access during day and night
- Traffic control and signage in place to assist
- Work occurring during both day and night shifts
- Increased noise, dust, vibration and worksite lighting
- Potential impacts to existing services (e.g. power, water, gas). Affected properties will be notified if required.
