Gantry installation on corner of Albert and Elizabeth streets

On Wednesday 15 January and Thursday 16 between 8:00pm and 4:00am, a gantry will be installed on the corner of Albert and Elizabeth streets, near the northern station entrance (Lot 3). A temporary pedestrian detour is required during the gantry installation and bike traffic will be reduced to one lane during this time.

The temporary pedestrian detour and partial bike lane closure is required to safely carry out the gantry installation and to lift equipment and materials over the work area. The work will be undertaken at night to minimise impacts to local businesses within this high foot traffic area, weather permitting.

The gantry is required to meet permit conditions in this area as part of the northern station entrance construction and will be in place throughout 2025. Work to install the gantry will include the use of generators, lighting units, EWP, hand tools and steel installation.

Traffic and pedestrian changes

  • Closure of section of footpath located near the corner of Albert and Elizabeth streets.
  • Closure of one bicycle lane located near the corner of Albert and Elizabeth streets. Bike traffic will be reduced to one lane and managed under traffic control.
