Acoustic Shed and Equipment Removal

From early March 2026, for up to six weeks, work to remove the remaining walls and roof of the acoustic shed located at the corner of Albert and Mary streets (Lot 2) will be undertaken.

Work Details

The following activities will be undertaken as part of shed removal works:

  • Structural steel roof and precast concrete sections will be separated using oxy cutters, rattle guns, concrete saws and shears
  • Sections will be lifted and removed by mobile crane and truck where possible
  • Oversized sections will be relocated to a designated stockpile area and mechanically demolished using excavators fitted with jackhammer attachments.

Traffic and Pedestrian Changes

During the works, the following changes will be in place:

  • Pedestrian access will be maintained on the opposite side of Mary Street. The pedestrian footpath in front of the Lot 2 acoustic shed will remain closed
  • The existing closure of the eastbound lane on Mary Street adjacent to the Lot 1 construction site will remain in place
  • Access to properties on Mary Street will be maintained.

Reducing Impact During Removal Works

During shed removal, every effort will be made to minimise the impacts on businesses, residents and commuters. Measures include:

  • Use of water trucks and other dust suppression devices including hoses and/or misting.
  • Dedicated road sweepers to perform routine and additional cleaning when required on-site.

Work Hours

Work will be undertaken during day and night, seven days a week. This activity is subject to relevant approvals and suitable weather conditions.

What to Expect

During the works, you can expect:

  • Increased noise, vibration and dust associated with the use of heavy machinery and equipment including but not limited to rattle guns, concrete saws, shears, oxy cutters and excavators
  • An increase in construction workers and vehicles
  • Following these works, the concrete slab under the shed structure will be removed. More information about these activities will be provided prior to work commencing.
