Dutton Park station construction update - November 2024

Dutton Park station reopened to the public on Monday 21 October and construction is expected to
continue until late 2025. In November, ongoing activities will include final touches at the station and
continued work at Kent Street.

Details of work

The following activities are scheduled to occur between 6:30am and 6:30pm, Monday to Saturday during November 2024, weather
and construction conditions permitting:

  • Continue Kent Street construction activities including drainage, retaining walls, footpaths, kerb and channel and road
    resurfacing
  • Continuation of works in the rail corridor to support completion of the tunnel southern portal area
  • Rectification of any minor defects in the station (e.g. painting, sealing, and steel and concrete repairs)
  • Construction of a permanent rail maintenance access road at Fenton Street, Fairfield.
  • Ongoing maintenance of landscaping.

Out of hours work

The following activities will occur outside the project’s normal working hours, weather and construction conditions permitting.

Between Kent Street and Annerley Road and between 6:30pm and 6:30am throughout November 2024, the following works will occur:

  • Construction of new footpaths, kerb and channel near the new Annerley Road and Noble Street station entries
  • Location of services around the station precinct using a vacuum truck
  • Track work and maintenance.

At the Annerley Road station entry Between 8:00pm Monday 25 and 4:00am Tuesday 26 November, the following works will occur:

  • Cutting and removal of existing asphalt on Annerley Road in front of the station entry
  • Grading and asphalt paving.

In the rail corridor between Ensign Avenue and Kent Street, and between 2:00am Saturday 9 November to 3:00am Monday 11 November 2024 and between 12:00am Saturday 23 to 3:00am Monday 24 November 2024, the following works will occur:

  • Signalling and installation of foundations and masts for overhead electrical wires
  • Piling for retaining wall construction near Kent Street including concrete deliveries and pours
  • Drainage and earthworks in the rail corridor
  • Installation of overhead electrical structures, signalling equipment, cable routes and pits within the rail corridor
  • Cable service route installation in proximity to Kent Street, Fenton Street and Ensign Avenue
  • Earthworks to support signalling installation and under track crossings
  • Track work and maintenance.

What to expect

During these works you will notice some disruptions such as:

  • Access into the corridor will be via Fenton Street, Noble Street, Kent Street, Sampson Street, Mildmay Street and Ensign
    Avenue. Traffic management will be set up to manage an increase in vehicle movements in these areas. Please follow the
    direction of traffic control and signage and allow for extra time to travel
  • Increased noise, vibration and dust associated with the use of heavy machinery and equipment
  • Trucks and machinery including concrete trucks and pumps, frontend loaders, excavators with rock breakers, vacuum trucks,
    piling rig, mobile cranes, small power tools, minor vibrating equipment and mobile lighting towers to light work areas at night.
