Dutton Park station construction update - August 2026

During August 2026, intermittent completion works will continue near Kent Street, including reinstatement works at the former laydown area at the end of the cul-de-sac, as well as ongoing landscaping maintenance.

Work will also continue within the rail corridor during a planned track closure, including the installation of overhead electrical structures, signalling equipment, cable routes and drainage installation.

Details of work

The following activities are scheduled to occur between 6:30am and 6:30pm, Monday to Saturday throughout August, weather and
construction conditions permitting:

  • Continue works within the rail corridor including the installation of overhead electrical structures, signalling equipment, cable routes and drainage between Ensign Avenue and the Southern Tunnel Portal
  • Continue earthworks, drainage installation, rail maintenance access road construction and minor landscaping works at Fenton Street.

Out of hours work

Work activities scheduled during planned track closures (when trains are not operating) or outside the project’s standard working
hours are outlined below, weather and construction conditions permitting.

On Kent Street and Annerley Road, and between 6:30pm and 6:30am throughout August 2026, the following works will occur:

  • Delivery of equipment and materials to site
  • Concrete deliveries and concrete pours.

Along the rail corridor between Ensign Avenue and the Southern Tunnel Portal, and between 2:00am Saturday 29 August to 3:00am Monday 31 August 2026, the following works will occur:

  • Installation of foundations and masts for overhead electrical equipment and wires
  • Excavation, earthworks and drainage in the rail corridor between the Wilkins Street pedestrian overpass and the Southern Tunnel Portal
  • Rail maintenance access road construction at Fenton Street
  • Installation of signalling equipment, cable routes and pits within the rail corridor in proximity to Kent Street, Fenton Street and Ensign Avenue
  • Excavation and earthworks to support signalling installation and undertrack crossings
  • Track work and maintenance.

Fenton Street

Rail maintenance access road

Works have now commenced on the rail maintenance access road at Fenton Street.

Works will be undertaken during day shift from 6:30am to 6:30pm Mon-Fri and on weekends during track closures.

Please follow all signage and directions from traffic control when passing through this area.

What to expect

During these works you will notice some disruptions such as:

  • Intermittent temporary lane closures on Fenton Street and Ensign Avenue to facilitate access into the rail corridor. Traffic management will be set up to manage an increase in vehicle movements in these areas. Please follow the direction of traffic control and signage and allow for extra travel time
  • Increased noise, vibration and dust associated with the use of heavy machinery and equipment
  • Trucks and machinery including concrete trucks and pumps, front end loaders, excavators with rock breakers, vacuum trucks, piling rigs, mobile cranes, small power tools, minor vibrating equipment and mobile lighting towers to light work areas at night.
