Construction update Salisbury station - May 2026

During May 2026, UNITY Alliance will recommence foundation works for the European Train Control System (ETCS) pole and equipment shelter installation, and continue electrical and signalling works within the Salisbury station rail corridor.

Details of work

The following activities are scheduled to occur between 6:30am and 6:30pm, Monday to Saturday intermittently throughout the month, weather and construction conditions permitting:

  • Continue minor concrete finishing, patching, painting and sealing works at Salisbury station
  • Earthworks and concreting for ETCS slab foundations. Scan the QR code to learn more about ETCS and how it will improve rail safety and efficiency.

Out of hours work

Work activities scheduled during planned track closures (when trains are not operating) or outside the project’s standard working hours are outlined below, weather and construction conditions permitting.

At Salisbury station and within the rail corridor, and between 12:00am Saturday 30 May and 3:00am Monday 1 June 2026, the following works will occur:

  • Removal of old structures and installation of new foundations and masts for overhead electrical lines
  • Excavation, earthworks and installation of services
  • Minor concrete finishing, patching, painting and sealing at Salisbury station
  • Signal testing and commissioning activities
  • Track maintenance works.

We appreciate your patience during construction and will continue to update you as work progresses.

What to expect

During these works you may notice some intermittent disruptions such as:

  • Intermittent single lane closures on Fairlie Terrace, Lillian Avenue and Dollis Street near the rail corridor gates for access into work areas (refer to map). Traffic control and signage will be in place. Some minor delays may be experienced
  • Trucks and machinery including concrete trucks and pumps, loaders, excavators with rock breakers (if required), vacuum trucks, mobile cranes, minor vibrating equipment, small power tools and hand tools
  • Changes around your local area such as increased construction vehicles, traffic management signs and personnel
  • Increased levels of noise, vibration and dust associated with the use of heavy machinery and equipment.
