Moorooka station construction update – February 2026
In February 2026, UNITY Alliance will continue early works at Moorooka station including service location, installation of temporary fencing and signage, and construction of a new signalised pedestrian crossing for Ipswich Road next to Unwin Street in preparation for major construction to commence.
Details of work
The following activities are scheduled to occur between 6:30am and 6:30pm, Monday to Saturday in February 2026, weather and construction conditions permitting:
- Continue earthworks and retaining wall construction for the new platform 3
- Continue installation of drainage, service conduits and pits for electrical, communications and cable routes within the rail corridor
- Delivery of materials and equipment to site
Out of hours work
Work activities are scheduled during planned track closures (when trains are not operating) or outside the project’s standard working hours. Times below are subject to weather and construction conditions.
At Moorooka station and Ipswich Road, Moorooka, and between 6:30pm and 6:30am intermittently in February and early March 2026, the following works will occur:
- Public utility investigations for services (e.g., water, electrical)
- Ipswich Road signalised pedestrian crossing construction including the use of traffic control, cutting tools, tree removal, trucks and a mobile crane
- Installation of traffic barriers, temporary traffic signage and line marking and Ipswich Road tree removal for construction access
At Moorooka station and Ipswich Road, Moorooka, and between 12:00am Saturday 14 and 3:00am Monday 16 February 2026, 2:00am Saturday 21 and 2:00am Monday 23 February 2026, and 2:00am Saturday 28 February and 3:00am Monday 2 March 2026, the following works will occur:
- Drainage installation including excavation
- Installation of foundations and masts for overhead electrical lines and removal of old structures
- Location of services
- Geotechnical trenching and testing
At Moorooka station and Ipswich Road, Moorooka, and between 6:30pm Sunday 1 and 5:30am Monday 2 March 2026, the following works will occur:
- Installation of traffic control devices (e.g., bollards, barriers), signs and line marking on Ipswich Road adjacent to Moorooka station
Construction work areas, pedestrian access and traffic changes

What to expect
During these works you may notice some intermittent disruptions such as:
- Intermittent single lane closures on Ipswich Road during night shifts in February and early March for signalised pedestrian crossing construction and installation of traffic barriers, signs and line marking
- Removal of Ipswich Road on‑street parking from Sunday 22 February in preparation for major construction
- Light vehicles, trucks and machinery including excavators with rock breakers and jackhammers, concrete trucks, concrete pump trucks, rollers, water carts, front end loaders, mobile cranes, piling rigs, drilling rigs, vacuum excavation trucks, small power tools, drills, saws, minor vibrating equipment and mobile lighting towers
- Changes around your local area such as construction vehicles, traffic management signs and personnel
- Some noise, vibration and dust associated with the use of heavy machinery and equipment
