Construction update Mayne Yard North

Details of Work

During April and May 2025, the following activities are scheduled to occur between 6:30am and 6:30pm, Monday to Saturday, weather and construction conditions permitting:

• Continue installation of fencing and inground services within Mayne Yard East
• Continue construction of the new rail bridge over Breakfast Creek
• Rock excavation, earthworks and removal of materials from site
• Road pavement works including asphalting and line marking
• Installation of foundations and masts for overhead electrical wires
• Ongoing installation of cable routes and pits within the rail corridor
• Rail track construction, including formation works, ballast placement, sleeper and rail construction, resurfacing and welding works

Out of Hours Work

Additional activities will occur outside the project’s normal working hours, as outlined below:

At Mayne Yard in Bowen Hills, and intermittently between 6:30pm and 6:30am throughout April and May 2025, the following works will occur:

• Excavation, including rock breaking for the installation of inground services such as stormwater drainage
• Concrete works including placement of formwork, steel fixing and concrete pours
• Delivery of materials to site
• Installation of cable conduits and pits, and pulling new cables
• Track work and maintenance

At Mayne Yard in Bowen Hills, and between 2:00am Tuesday 6 May to 2:00am Friday 23 May 2025 (Day and night shift), the following works will occur:

• Excavation, including rock breaking for the installation of inground services such as stormwater drainage. Please see

• Removal of redundant structures within the rail corridor
• Earthworks and service installation
• Track removal and installation
• Installation of masts and foundations for overhead electrical wires
• Signalling testing and commissioning, pulling cables and foundation works.

What to Expect

During these works you may notice some intermittent disruptions such as:

• Light vehicles, trucks and machinery including excavators with hydraulic hammers, augers, vacuum trucks, piling and
  drill rigs, concrete trucks, small power tools, minor vibrating equipment and mobile lighting towers to light the work areas at night
• Changes around your local area such as construction vehicles, traffic management signs and personnel
• Delivery trucks and workers’ vehicles entering Mayne Yard via the existing access road at Lanham Street and Mayne Road, Bowen Hills and via Grafton Street, Windsor
• Some increased levels of noise, vibration and dust associated with the use of heavy machinery and equipment
• Due to the construction of a new rail bridge, a section of Breakfast Creek near Grafton Street, Windsor has been
  temporarily closed to all boats / vessels until mid-2025. The construction area boundaries will be marked with buoys on the water within Breakfast Creek.
