Around Our Work Sites
Updates from around our worksites up to 8 September 2025 include:
Tunnels
The final section of the hydrant pipe installation has now been completed underground, while fit-out including installation of acoustic panels is continuing.
Underground stations
At Roma Street,the installation of glass panelling on the station building continues. Installation of the canopy steel for the busway platform has now commenced.
At Albert Street, fit-out of the main station entrance (Lot 1) is progressing, with delivery and installation of escalators underway.
At Woolloongabba, landscaping works are underway, creating a setting for Mudlo, Mirigan Yariba, a water feature installation by artist Jody Rallah. A total of 15,012 plants will be introduced with the Weeping Paperbark chosen as the station’s signature species.
At Boggo Road, the structural steel installation of the final canopy pieces is nearing completion.
Above Ground Stations
At Exhibition, the station has been handed over to Queensland Rail, with the station now available for special events at the RNA showgrounds, including the Ekka.
At Dutton Park, construction works at the Kent Street entrance are ongoing.
At Yeerongpilly, the station reopened to customers earlier this year after a full accessibility upgrade. Some minor works continue within the rail corridor and adjacent to the station.
At Moorooka, works have commenced on the retaining wall at Platform 3.
At Salisbury, all major structural and architectural works are now complete. Concrete slabs for Platforms 1 and 2 are nearing completion, and installation of the station lifts and fit out of station buildings, overpass and platform canopies is continuing.
At Pimpama, heritage signage has been installed, and the pedestrian entrance from Mebbin Street has freshly installed handrails, signage, landscaping and now tactiles.
At Hope Island, the stations building fitout is progressing well and the final emergency access stairs were completed.
At Merrimac, work is progressing on the station access from Gooding Drive, with crews placing and compacting high-quality, well-graded fill material to form the permanent road alignment.
Train Stabling Facilities and Rail
In the Southern Area, pit and pipe installation for the combined services route, along with associated civil works from Fairfield to Salisbury continue to progress.
In the Northern Area, overhead Line equipment was installed, and civil works were undertaken at Normanby.
At Clapham Yard, the pour of the final ground beam of the Clapham Maintenance Facility building was completed, drainage works are ongoing, and piling is continuing to support early works on the viaduct near Moolabin Creek.
At Mayne Yard, ongoing activities include construction of the new Breakfast Creek rail bridge, installation of foundations and masts for overhead electrical wires, drainage, earthworks, track modifications and installation of the combined services route at Grafton Street.
European Train Control System – ETCS
Service testing campaigns are ongoing, with ETCS fitted trains without passengers operating on the Shorncliffe Pilot Line between Bindha and Shorncliffe stations, to validate service testing procedures and training.
