Yeerongpilly station construction update - June and July 2025

During June and July 2025, works within the rail corridor will be undertaken between Yeerongpilly and Moorooka stations. Train services are operating from the island platform (platforms 2 and 3) with the new third platform (platform 1) to open at a later date.

Details of Ongoing Minor Works

The following activities are scheduled to occur between 6:30am and 6:30pm, Monday to Saturday during June and July 2025, weather and construction conditions permitting:

  • Ongoing maintenance of landscaping
  • Track work including rail removal and rail installation using cutting equipment, a rail tamper, graders, excavators, rollers and trucks.

Out of Hours Work

The following activities will occur outside the project’s normal working hours at Yeerongpilly station and in the rail corridor, weather and construction conditions permitting, as outlined below.

Between 12:00am Saturday 7 to 3:00am Monday 9 June 2025, the following works will occur:

  • Cable service route installation including excavation, drainage and installation of under track crossings for services (e.g., communications, electrical)
  • Installation of masts and foundations for overhead electrical lines and remove old structures
  • Signal testing and commissioning
  • Track maintenance works.

Between 11:59pm Friday 27 June and 2:00am Tuesday 15 July 2025, the following works will occur:

  • Cable service route installation including excavation, drainage and installation of under track crossings for services (e.g., communications, electrical)
  • Removal old structures of masts and foundations for overhead electrical lines
  • Track work including rail removal and rail installation using cutting equipment, a rail tamper, graders, excavators, rollers and trucks
  • Signal testing and commissioning.

Between 6:00pm Tuesday 15 July and 2:00am Saturday 19 July 2025, the following works will occur:

  • Test trains running between Dutton Park and Salisbury stations to test signalling equipment on all lines
  • Signal testing and commissioning.

What to Expect

During these works you may notice some disruptions such as:

  • Temporary traffic changes on Wilkie Street between Cardross Street and Station Road, with intermittent traffic holds to allow construction vehicle access in / out of the rail corridor. Traffic control will be in place to assist
  • Light vehicles, trucks and machinery including excavators with rock breakers and jackhammers, rail tamper, graders, loaders, mobile cranes, trucks, vacuum trucks, concrete trucks, pump trucks, loaders, concrete saws, power tools, generator to power site offices (day and night) and mobile lighting towers to light work areas at night
  • Increased noise, vibration and dust associated with the use of heavy machinery and equipment.
