Yeerongpilly station construction update - April and May 2025

Train services are operating from the island platform (platforms 2 and 3) with the new third platform (platform 1) to open at a later date. Some minor construction works will continue until mid-2025.

Details of Ongoing Minor Works

The following activities are scheduled to occur between 6:30am and 6:30pm, Monday to Saturday during April and May 2025, weather and construction conditions permitting:

  • Removal of the construction site offices from within the rail corridor
  • Removal of the construction site offices from within the rail corridor
  • Ongoing track works.

Out of Hours Work

Due to their location and safety requirements, some activities will be completed outside of standard working hours during planned track closures. The following activities will occur outside the project’s normal working hours, weather and construction conditions permitting as outlined below.

At Yeerongpilly station and rail corridor, and between 2:00am Friday 18 and 2:00am Tuesday 22 April 2025, and between 2:00am Saturday 24 to 3:00am Monday 26 May 2025, the following works will occur:

  • Minor finishing activities within the rail corridor (e.g., electrical, concrete repairs, patching and painting)
  • Installation of masts and foundations for overhead electrical wires and removal of old structures
  • Cable service route installation including excavation, drainage and installation of under track crossings for services (e.g., communications, electrical) in the rail corridor
  • Drainage installation and earthworks including excavation
  • Signal testing and commissioning
  • Track work and maintenance.

What to Expect

During these works you may notice some disruptions such as:

  • Traffic and parking changes on Wilkie Street between Cardross Street and Station Road
  • Light vehicles, trucks and machinery including excavators with rock breakers and jackhammers, mobile cranes, trucks, vacuum trucks, concrete trucks, pump trucks, loaders, concrete saws, power tools, generator to power site offices (day and night) and mobile lighting towers to light work areas at night
  • Increased noise, vibration and dust associated with the use of heavy machinery and equipment.
